Fresh from Lancaster London’s bakery oven, emerges a heavenly hybrid guaranteed to be a hit this Easter. This year, two much-loved traditional Easter treats, the Hot Cross Bun and Scone, have been fused together to form a delicious sultana adorned creation.
To create the combo, sultanas are poured into traditional scone mixture. Mixed spices which are normally reserved for the Hot Cross Bun are then added, before a sugar cross is piped on top of the dough.
Ben Purton, Executive Head Chef at Lancaster London and creator of the Hot Cross Scone, says, “We wanted to celebrate Easter by merging two British favourites: delicious scones and hot cross buns. Our Afternoon Tea is traditional and indulgent, so we wanted to offer our guests something exciting but still keeping within the realms of traditional high tea. What’s more, this way you don’t have to choose between two delicious treats, you can have both!”
The Hot Cross Scones will be served as part of Lancaster London's Easter Afternoon Tea, priced from £30 and available from 24 until 29 March 2016.
