Mad for Mezcal? K West Hotel & Spa has brought some Mexican sunshine to the heart of West London with their exclusive new cocktail menu. ‘Mezcal Adventure’ is the latest offering from the talented mixologists at Studio Bar who are serving up three new Mexican-inspired cocktails until 31 August 2017.
Travelling across the Atlantic, three new Mezcals are now in pride of place on the bar at K West Hotel & Spa: La Penca, with a signature herbaceous flavour; Sotol Hacienda, renowned for its wild agavaceae taste; and Herradura Añejo, a Mezcal aged for 25-months with a smooth finish.
Think Bloody Mary but with a Mexican twist, SANGRE MEXICANA (£10.95) replaces the vodka with La Penca Mezcal and the hot sauce with chipotle. The blend is built up from the Mezcal, olive juice, Worcestershire sauce, orange juice, salt & pepper, chipotle sauce, and a homemade BBQ tomato juice. Sangre Mexicana is served in an old fashioned glass, garnished with a celery salt rim, lime wedge and finished with a celery stick.
Taking you to the middle of the Chihuahuan desert, MAHAITO VERDE (£11.45) will make your friends green with envy, as this zingy blend is sure to be a firm favourite. The cocktail muddles Sotol Plata with Limoncello, basil, kiwi, cucumber, lemon juice and a dash of agave syrup for an extra sweet hit. Served over crushed ice in a copper mug, Mahaito Verde is garnished with cucumber, physalis and basil leaves.
For those fancying something fruity, COMALA ORIGINAL (£11.95) is a sweet concoction where the flavours of passion fruit, mandarin and watermelon shine through. It combines Herradura Añejo Tequila, Passoã, Cointreau, Midori, lemon juice, watermelon, mandarin, and agave syrup. Keeping things traditional, Comala Original is served in a Margarita glass and garnished with a mandarin wedge.
